Charlie
I’ve worked in fashion for many years, with experience on both sides of the industry — as a clothing brand owner and within the sourcing and manufacturing supply chain.
Before Fashion Threads, I had my own clothing brand, Charlie Barley, which was sold wholesale to around 30 independent stores, including House of Fraser and Harrods. I also had two Charlie Barley shops, one in Brighton and one on New Kings Road in London, exhibited at trade shows in the UK and abroad, and had a regular column in Drapers, the fashion trade magazine.
Having been a brand owner myself, I understand what it’s like to take an idea and turn it into a real collection. I work with both start-ups and established brands, providing as much or as little support as they need — from technical packs, fabric sourcing and sampling to production, or managing the whole journey from initial idea to finished garment.
I love being part of the supply chain and seeing a design develop from a drawing or tech pack into an actual garment. I also offer complimentary mentoring alongside my production work, as sometimes a client needs someone to bounce ideas off, look at things from the customer’s perspective or simply help work out what to do next. For me, good customer service is a big part of what I do. I like to be approachable, responsive and genuinely involved in my clients’ projects, and I’m proud that this comes through in the reviews and feedback I receive.
I’ve always been interested in how products are made and the people behind them. I’ve built long-standing relationships with trusted manufacturing partners and take the time to understand the factories I work with. I regularly visit our manufacturing partners in Turkey and meet with our Chinese manufacturing partners when they visit the UK. The factories we work with are regularly audited, and responsible and ethical production remains an important consideration when choosing our manufacturing partners.
Fashion Threads is based between two UK locations in Hove and Maldon, with brands throughout the UK and beyond.
I work across children’s, baby and adult clothing, producing everything from streetwear, fitness wear and outerwear to knitwear, nightwear, cargos and more, depending on the requirements of each collection.

Emma has been in the Fashion Industry for years, having worked for the likes of Superdry and many other clothing brands and retailers. She is the lady who can. Helping with logos, graphics, creating patterns and prints for garments and getting them ready for manufacture. She can help with trends, creating specs and tech packs and her fabric knowledge is superb. She is a valuable member of the team.

Dug
Fashion Threads works with Dug on knitwear yarn collections, that are machine washable.
Dug has a wealth of knowledge, as his family have been working in the cashmere industry for over 200 years! He has worked for the likes of Pringle and with factories all over the world, before moving to Mongolia in 2009 to specialise in ethically manufactured cashmere.
